Our beautiful 7-acre campus, located five minutes from Albuquerque and Rio Rancho, is nestled in the heart of the historic, agricultural Village of Corrales. The school is housed in a beautiful 6000 square feet Southwestern villa, surrounded by several cozy buildings which make up the elementary classrooms. Our campus includes an apple orchard, an organic children's garden, a 1500 square feet working greenhouse, an adobe chicken coop maintained by the children, and several small playgrounds set against a spectacular view of the Sandia Mountains. The bosque is just a few minutes’ walk from the back of our property extending our outdoor classroom all the way to the mighty Rio Grande River.
Cottonwood School was founded in 1995 by Trish Nickerson, Moe Hickey, Susan Black, Bretta Weiss, Susan Siebert, Carla Graf, and Mary Polino. We are, and always have been, conveniently located in Corrales, New Mexico to serve the greater Albuquerque and Rio Rancho metro areas with preschool and elementary programs for children ages 18 months through 12 years.
